Hey Joe
here is a couple pix of maggie and buster and they are inseparable

She loves to bundle up in her blankie every night

Not Bostons, far from it but momma dog and kids are safe now.  Palena has them.   ;-)

Nancy B's kids.    I guess a lot of us have this problem.

Where to put OUR feet without disturbing anybody?

Little Joseph Merchant went to the bridge today.

He has Megaesophagus but that was the least of his problems.  The stomach deformity, his colon and bowels deformed, etc.
Susan just sent me the message.

"We played ball before he left today but he didnt want to.....he kept throwing up foam and just gave up and laid down."

Godspeed Home, little man.

Bostons LOVE squirrels.    Just ask Smoky BJ

Lil Joe says it's cold in Henry County today.

Jewell is a megaesophagus baby that Michelle is fostering.

Keith took some time this weekend and made Jewell her very own version Bailey chair with a sliding table complete with dish and holder.  It's a little big, but the padding will make it hug her a little better. Jewell hates it, but it works.  I'm still working on the padding for the edges and will slap a coat of paint on it this weekend.  I'm training her to use it (and like it) now.  But I thought I would share a few pictures.  She's strapped in and not very happy about it!

The good news is that since I've been feeding her in a vertical position, she hasn't regurgitated after her meals and water.  She does sneak a sip from the big girl water dish if I forget to take it up and she'll regurge then...but the vertical feeding is working great.

Michelle

Arlene (Pogo Rose’s old Momma) sent these to us.   Halloween time.

Isn't she sweet?

Tracy aka Mr. Frog passed away this evening after a short illness with kidney issues. He was one of a kind, he was/is my heart. He helped me heal my broken heart after Milo passed away in July for kideny disease.
He will be greatly missed by Me, Mom and his brother Oliver and sister Dolly Marie. His girlfriend Daisy Ann. His Foster Sisters Emma Leigh, Pogo Rose and Marnie Noel. I can never begin to thank Joe enough to allowing me to adopt Tracy. He gave me the greatest gift a person can give someone else, a life to care for.

He is was met on the Rainbow Bridge by his brother Milo. I just wish I was with him when he passed away. That will be something that will be hard for me to deal with for a long time. But I will keep the Sanctuary going in his and Milo's memories. The Sanctuary's doors are still open. I will be going to see Joe on Wednesday to find its newest memebers. I am blessed and honored to say "I am a member of the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tn".

I consider my job with the rescue my way of making a positive change in this world one little boston at time...

We have some letters from home at the Sanctuary in VA.   Gossiping, napping, riding in the car, mostly just old dog business.   Bostons doing what Bostons do.

:-)

And, some pics of Mr. BJ aka Smoky Bear at Berry College with parents and sister Suki.

More Halloween Pics, these ones from Donna's Crew in Cartersville, GA

Here is a picture of Indy dressed up in his Halloween costume.  He wore it well!

Indy is still doing great--healthy and enjoying life in Chesapeake, Virginia.  He loves to be around us and follows us from room to room!  He also enjoys showing us how "tough" he is by "killing" his toys in front of us.  If we leave the room, he stops and lays his head on his paws like we've offended him by dismissing his display of hunting/killing prowess.  Still keeping us laughing!  ~~Susan

We have a new pic of Prissy and her new family.   We're looking for a new pic of Sparky too.

(That's a giant Boston on the left)   ;-)

Hope you are doing well. I thought I would share with you the latest pictures of Sammy and Lucy. They are modeling their new winter/rain coats. We just can’t get over how well Sammy and Lucy have bonded. It is not an unusual site to have them sharing Sammy’s pillow by our bed.

Take care,  Becky

We're saddened here to report that we lost old man Mr. Spikeman or just plain Spikey last week to old age.   A very unique little guy and an honest talking dog, Spikey was always into trouble and in spite of his small size, generally was the one who started most of the fights.

Even as he got to be an old grandfather dog, he nonetheless slept in a crate, mostly because of his habit of roaming at night and getting into things, or just starting fights.  ;-)

ANgel died in my arms at 7PM. We HAD SPENT THE AFTERNOON AT THE VETS. Ran complete blood panel and white count was high and showed some possible signs of Addisons . We were going back in a month. I cannot imagine life without her. I will not be making appearances any more and just want to stay at home.

The new angel ANgel has taken my soul, Cine max took my heart.

In Memory of Butch...

Butch was a sweet 14 yr old Boston guy that crossed the bridge yesterday. His mouth was eaten away with cancer...and there was nothing I could do for him except hold him and let him know he was loved as he crossed the Bridge.
I only knew him for a few hours, but he will always have a piece of my heart.

We're very happy to announce that Sparky and Prissy Vega have been adopted and each has gone to their Forever Homes.

Prissy is home now in Marietta, GA and has a teenager as a new sibling as well as the four legged variety.   Her new momma Jodi is smitten with her.

Mr. Sparky is doing great.  He and Dixie and Daisy have become good friends!  Sparky's brother Will (he works at Camp Bowwow) will send some pictures and his new momma Louisa is delighted with the little wart.

That's Prissy the first two, both in the middle and Sparky on the bottom two.   Happy kids and again, Happy kids in new Forever Homes

Mr. Jesse James Punkin has been adopted by the Cox family in Knoxville and he's doing just fine.   Jesse was apparently dumped and found by the family.   He'd been hit by a car but he's all good now.

Well, Mr. Oscar Olds Meyer has been adopted and the little feller has moved to Virginia with his momma.

It was one of those instant bonds between momma and child.   We're looking for more pics of the kid and his new digs.

We're very pleased to announce the adoption of Daisy Dew (Little French Girl).   Daisy has moved to Knoxville where she has new siblings.   Like most little girls, Daisy is thinking about going in the jewelry business.

Cowboy Bob, a 50# Bostonian that occasionally endured Daisy's anger, is getting a little more rest and no longer sleeping with one eye open.   BTW, Daisy is about 18# but it didn't matter to poor Bob.

Here we are, mother and daughter.   :-)

We're greatly saddened at the loss of Callie Clark, last week.   Her little spirit is with her momma, Donna and Callie will make her stronger.

Molly is doing great!   It's been a busy year. We adopted a brother for her this summer. His name is Buster and they are best friends. We took her to Metro to help us make a decision and he was it!

They are really doing well!! Take care!

Emma and Braden

joe's note: LOVE the antlers  :-)

Hello All!

It has been a while since I emailed you guys down in TN.  I wanted to let you know that Crickett is still doing wonderfully!  We have recently taken up camping and she has become the mascot!  The trailer can't go with out her!  She loves getting to go along and being in the trailer.  What a joy she is!!!

Here are a few pictures of Crickett camping across America:)  We went on a 4,500 mile trip this summer to Mount Rushmore and Colorado, she had a ball!  Please feel free to use them.

Love, Melisa Lee

A letter from the Sanctuary........

Today was bath day, then a puppy pile on the couch for a nap plus a movie..  Dolly Marie voted to watch her favorite the Fifth Element. That was vetoed.  So we watched Cleopatra instead. LOL, great movie….

Dolly Marie does look good and happy in that picture. She is my cutie pie, or my little apple head.   Tracy and Daisy Ann have basically shacked up, they are officially dating. They sleep together every night.

He will not go anywhere without her and vice versa. Oliver still has separation anxiety but he is doing well other than that.  Oliver sleeps with me every night and usually 1-2 others end up joining us.   Emma Leigh and Oliver a duo, they run thru the yard barking. Marnie is very smart she know how to give 5.

She has a funny prancing run, like a Tennessee walking horse. Pogo is doing good, she really loves being around the other dogs. Every time I go out running errands at least 2-4 dogs go. All they have to hear is car ride and they are prancing at the door. The dogs are a big hit at Mom’s Rehab facility.

Well I better go I have a busy day, I have a Dungeons & Dragons game later in the evening. My pal Ben will be coming by to let the pups out. I have them on every 4 hour potty break schedule, I never break it!! He has to work so he volunteered to come down and let them out so I can go play.

Take care and let me know if you need anything..  Me and pups send our love to you and the gang…

Thanks, Marlana S. Anderson

Tres and Philip recently returned from a camping trip to Wisconsin. Elaine and Velvet went also. We all had a wonderful time. Tres is a wonderful traveler.

Also his allergies seem to be under better control since we changed his food and he still gets Benadryl 1-2 times a day. Enclosed are a couple camping pictures.

We're very pleased to announce that Mr. Bebe P (aka Bandit) has joined the Mayfield family and is making himself right at home.   Gabby's still not sure what to make of Bebe.  Neither is anybody else.   ;-)

We are greatly saddened to report the loss of George Allen, Boston Terrier today.   George was a stray, lost Bostonian, run over by a mindless redneck in Maggie Valley, NC earlier this week.

We sincerely wish to thank the great doctors and staff at Canton Animal Hospital for looking after George and his foster momma Lori who found him and cared for him so kindly.

George Allen is in his forever home now.   With Lori.

Hello i just wanted to give a quick update on Charlie and Phthalo.

Well the two dogs and I  have left Boston and moved all the way to San Francisco.  Things changed pretty quickly so the three of us got in the car and took a road trip all the way across these united states.  The dogs were great in the car as long was we stopped to play Frisbee at least once every 24 hours.  They are getting used to San Francisco and city life and all the dogs, well behaved and otherwise.

Hey Joe,

Here's the latest pic! We took this yesterday at a park downtown. I picked Smoky up because he kept turning away from the camera. Smoky is doing great and we couldn't be happier!

talk to you soon,
Neal

We didn't get around to a family picture but I liked this picture of the two girls. Dolly just started to be playful w/ us and w/ Sophie today--Sophie not too sure yet as she just wants to chase after squeaky toys!

Gloria  :-)

Hi Joe,
Attached is a new picture of Louis Hamilton in his new wheels with his sister Emma the paralyzed beagle. Yep - he is spoiled.

A new pic of Mimi and her brother Bailey, at home, doing the Boston thing .relaxing on a Sunday afternoon with her new family

When they are out walking them if one gets too far away from the other they start whimpering to get to one another it is just too cute the attachment they have formed for each other already.

How sweet it is.   ;-)

We have a new report on Mr. Smoky Bear, aka BJ Kelley.

Smoky loves gnawing on his stuffed duck toy, and can happily do that for 10 minutes or more at a time.

He's a very good boy and lets his "elderly" pug sister, mom and dad sleep in, even though he's got energy to burn!!! I feel a little sorry for him when he tries to get Suki to play and goof off, and she just stares at him. But they both really like going on their daily walk and Suki is minding her manners pretty well. She is taking a gradual liking to him.

We are planning on taking more family pics with all of us soon.  He has gotten a hold of a flip flop and tore into that pretty good, but I didn't care. And Neal and I "gave up" the rule about 'no dogs on the nice living room furniture' pretty quick. It's just nice having the dogs snuggle on our laps with us after a long day.

Take care,  Andrea

Our little girl Mimi Sherman was adopted yesterday and she now has a big brother named Bailey.   After a few anxious moments ("the meeting"), they're now like two peas in a pod.

Mr. Bailey will have his paws full.    ;-)

We're very pleased to announce the adoption of Coco aka Fruitee into the Riedinger household in Sandy Springs, GA.

Coco is going to be studying real estate appraisal, and become a certified dog sitter at her new home.

She joins a couple non- Bostons, and plans to taking over the role of Royal Administrator, as soon as time permits. She also has declared that new family is subject to returning to Uncle Ron’s from time to time, to walk and entertain some of her ol’ buddies.

Hi Joe,

It is with a heavy heart that I am telling you that Cody has moved on to a better place.

I am very sad but I know Cody is a better place. He has been a good big brother to Katie. He almost made it to 16 years old!

I loved him and am proud of him ~ Ardy

Bostons have a hard time with "eyes" sometimes and Harryman (The Legend that EVERYBODY knows about) is no exception.   Here're some pics of Harry (in the middle) and his brother Kidd Rock after Harryman's recent eye surgery.   He's doing fine, learning to get around again and ready to continue with his legendary duties.

We have a new pic of Sapphire Rose and her new sister Sophie at home, being Boston Terriers.

Here's a note from her new daddy:

Hi Joe,  I took a couple pictures of Sapphire and Sophie. Will try to take a 'family' picture this weekend. We have decided to call her Dolly, for the Pigeon Forge area where she came from. And it is easier to say. The two girls get along fine, but so far Dolly has shown no interest in playing with any doggie toys. We took her to our vet and they were all surprised and excited that we found another white Boston like Sophie. I will have Gloria provide more of an update as I am a two finger hunt and peck typer.

Tom

It hasn’t taken Sammy long at all to fall into the routine of the Finger household. He and Lucy have really bonded. This picture was taken Saturday night.

Take care,

Becky

Hello there in Tennessee-

Phoebe Marie has been with us for a whole year now. Still chasing squirrels-but she has really calmed down. She is a joy and we're so happy to have her. Hope all is well-take care.
Sincerely,

Stephanie Previti & Phoebe

After two short months of being a foster home with Boston Terrier Rescue, I got Peggy Sue as my first foster due to an owner surrender.

We've now decided to add her to our family as a permanent member to the Bruce family.   As seen here in these pictures Peggy Sue, 8 years old will be joining a younger sister, Sophie who is 3 years old. Peggy has the biggest smile I've ever seen on a Boston and she brings a lot of joy into our lives!

Sue Bruce, Tallahassee, FL, Foster Momma for BTR of East TN

Well, Mabel has moved in and she and Izzy are the talk of the town in Columbia.    Got a new pic of the Mabel-girl from her momma Linda.....   Couch pooch.  :-)

Things were a buzzin early Thursday 9 17 09 when Sammy packed up and left Boston Farms to ride toward Pulaski TN. Sammy came to us with very young Pups: Star and Stevie, (still looking for a home), and a severe case of Demo Mange.

Without our help, all 3 were doomed.

Well, that’s over now, Sammy just loves attention, and she is headed for tons of it. We’ll miss her dearly, but the tears shed are worth it; when they finally get that forever home, reminds ya of why we do this!

Sue pulled her from the Roane County shelter but she wasn't with her but a month.   Maggie Katherine died in her sleep Friday night of natural causes, home at last.

Good news from the Marlin family.  Both of the girls are doing great.

This is Abby's favorite spot...especially in the evening when the sun is warm. Scooter is somewhere close. She is never too far away from Abby.

JT, Linda, Abby, & Scooter Marlin

We have some new pics of Mr. Sam Sevier, Boston Terrier, establishing himself into the Finger Family and his new sister, Lucille and a stray leg and foot.   One photo is, of course, the well known Boston Terrier "resting position."

Thanks to Becky   :-)

We're very pleased to announce the adoption of Mr. Bear Baker into the Cole family.

They said:

"Mr. Bear made himself at home and wiggled his way into our hearts. What started as a foster home has turned into a forever home for our sweet little "block head". Welcome to your official family Mr. Bear! We promise you will never be alone or unloved again."      ~Keith and Michelle Cole

We're very pleased to announce the adoption of Mr. Sam Sevier into the Finger Family in Mebane, North Carolina.

Sam joins a 17 year history of Bostonians and he's the latest happy little guy.   He's hoping his Uncle CB and Aunt Linda will visit him now and then and we're hoping for some new pics.

The Tea Room in Maryville is greatly sadden today at the loss of Bruiser "Little Man" Boyd Raibley, greatly loved Boston Terrier.   Bruiser was an owner surrender, one of those kids that comes to rescue and stays at rescue.

At 14-15 yrs, he suffered a stroke about a week ago and it was all downhill from there although he was nourished and loved constantly by his daddy and his brothers and sisters to the end.

Bruiser slipped away around 3 p yesterday, quietly.   He's part of the staff now, his little teeth chattering in excitement.   The greeting at the bridge was no doubt a joyful one, lots of buds and close old friends.

joe

We're saddened to pass along the recent loss of Sedro from his momma Andrea.   Here he is with his momma and sister Suki.  You can see his charisma--especially in his little under bite smile.

Definitely a Bostonian

Momma's watch your young ones !!

This poor little guy is Buck Humphries of the Waverly Animal Shelter in Waverly, TN.    The Waverly shelter is one of the very good shelters and they were keeping Bucky for one of us to find a spot.

Sadly, Parvo got him first.   Be SURE your young ones are up to date on Parvo shots at least 'till they're 2 yrs old.   The Parvo 2c strain will kill a dog literally before you know anything's wrong.

"Neal and Andrea Riley and their pug Suki are overjoyed with their new companion, Smoky Bear / "B.J. Kelly". He is bringing happiness and youthful energy back into our family.

We started down the adoption / rescue road out of love for our dearly departed Boston Terrier Sedro, and now can't imagine having made any other decision.

Smoky Bear's pastimes in his new home of Rome, Georgia include many walks, watching geese and ducks at the lake nearby, and the nightly snoring competition between him, his sister Suki, and his daddy Neal. :)"

I'd never seen one of my dogs play "catch" with himself--he'll fling his stuffed toy in the air and then catch it.

Here's Neal's Smoky Video

We have received word that Buttette  (pronouced "Boolei") Newsome passed away recently in Michigan, greatly loved Boston of Gene and Gene.   My guess is there was a loud greeting at the Bridge.

We have some new pics of Dr. Jake, Boston Terrier and his new family to share....

Ken's in Indianapolis and does a lot of cross posting for all kinds of dogs, e.g., AntEaterKen@aol.com, you've probably seen some of his posting's and he's a hero in Dog World.   He saves a LOT of lives, never quits.

Ken's gal Wanda has a dog named Suzy.  Guess what?  Guess who is working on Ken's head and just about has him trained.......    Ken's highly trainable.   ;-)

Another dear, sweet, angel gone to the bridge. We had to let Opal go yesterday.  Although Opal did not give outward signs of being in pain, obviously this brain tumor had to be excruciatingly painful, so we had to let her go.   Bostons are such stoic little dogs, and Opal was no exception.

I thank our foster parents such as Alicia and her husband, John, who take in the senior dogs, knowing that heartache is waiting just around the corner. Their fosters generally will be with them until the end of their days, and it is just hard letting them go after such a brief time spent loving them.  They loved Opal and gave her the best life she could have asked for.

It is a hard loss, after just losing our little Lucie the day before. God rest your little souls, Lucie and Opal.

Subject: My new Email

Finally, my dad has provided me with an email address, so I thought I would drop you an email to inform you on how things are going.

My dad and me go for a walk every day. He pretty much lets me decide on which route to follow. There are several routes we can take. They range from 1.5 miles to about 3 miles. We go just about every day. This last week has been a little more sparse. Dad had outpatient last week and has not felt up to walking much. He is back in shape now, we went for the 3 mile route this morning.

I get to chase a few squirrels when they try to eat at the squirrel feeder. I am not obnoxious about it, and only do it a little, they still get a lot to eat.

We also have a duck that tries to fly in once in awhile to eat at the squirrel feeder. I do a better job of chasing it away.

My mom takes me in the car quite often. I think I surprise her by how well behaved I am. Even after she opens the door, I sit and wait until she grabs my collar to help me out.

I also am very well behaved on our walks. I do not try to pull too hard, and just walk at my dad’s pace. I ignore all of those other dogs on the route that bark at me or try to introduce themselves. If I stop to talk to them, It would slow up the pace of our walk, and it is my job to make sure that Dad gets his walk in to help his weight loss program.

Remington (aka. "Bubby") may have been a coonhound, but he thought he was a Boston in every way. A lap dog, a lover, a loyal friend, a clown. I promised him I would protect him when he was just a baby. We were always careful to monitor his toys and remove any dangerous items that he might choke on. I never would have imagined that something so seemingly harmless as a stray plastic grocery sack would cost him his life.

I only hope that others can learn from our loss. I'll encourage everyone I meet to puppy proof their homes and keep an eye out for anything that could be eaten, even if their dogs are older and well behaved like Bubby was.

We have a new pic of The Legend, Mr. Harryman.   Harryman recently had both eyes removed but he's a tough little cookie and he's still giving his brother Kidd Rock plenty Boston gas.

There'll be more to report on The Legend, but we wanted everybody to know that he came thru the surgery well and now on the mend.    On to new adventures with The Legend.
